Valentine's Leash Giveaway!

We're so happy to be announcing the details of our first giveaway!  We were thrilled when CSN Stores contacted us, offering to sponsor a giveaway for our readers! They have such an incredible selection of pet accessories, choosing an item was difficult. When we saw this fun heart patterned leash, the decision made itself....a Valentine's giveaway!

Here's what you could win:

This leash is so CUTE!!! I love mine! The pattern is woven into the nylon webbing with red and silver metallic thread on one side, and is solid black on the other side. I tend to have practical (plain) leashes for everyday use and walks, so this will be my "good" leash when we're walking in town :)

The leash is made by Lupine, and the pattern is called "Love Struck".
It's 6 feet long, 1/2" wide, and is for pets up to 20 pounds or so (perfect for a Sheltie).

An amazing thing about Lupine brand is that they have a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. If the leash is accidentally damaged in any way, even if chewed, they will send you a free replacement when you mail them the damaged one. Wow...now that's a guarantee!

My leash was sent to me for review purposes and the giveaway leash is also sponsored by CSN Stores.

Guidelines:

1. Open to Canadian, U.S. and International readers! Everyone can enter!

2. The giveaway will end Monday, February 14th, 2011 at Midnight PST.

3. The winner will be announced Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 and contacted by me so we''ll know where to mail the leash to :)

How to Enter:

To enter the giveaway please fill in the form below.

The winner will be chosen at random by a number generator.  Good luck everyone!
Thank you CSN Stores for sponsoring this great giveaway!

Christmas Memories

At this time of year, it's wonderful to spend time with family, friends and the Shelties that make the Holidays extra special!
Here are some of my favorite Christmas photos from over the years...

"Tasha" practicing to pull Santa's sleigh, from Christmas 2008

"Tiara", Kathy's special little girl before Tasha.
Happy to wear her Santa hat and pose under the tree.

Two young Kel-Lani puppies...we were so proud when they were chosen to be models
for a Christmas print ad for one of the local pet food and supply stores. This is from 1985!

7 week old puppies posing for our Christmas card photo. I can remember waiting for the photos to come back, and hoping one turned out! Oh to have had digital instead of 35mm back then! Maybe we could have managed to get all 6 sitting in a row! The little fella third from the left was my pick of the litter and became Ch. Kel-Lani's Soft Rock, pictured below.

You can so tell it's him all grown up! "Rocky" (Ch. Kel-Lani's Soft Rock)
a great grandson of Ch. Halstor's Peter Pumpkin ROM

One of our ROMC Shelties, Ch. Kel-Lani's Moonglow CD ROMC a beautiful gold sable girl sired by Am.Can.Mex. Ch. Geronimo Son Rey Am.Can.Mex. CD
She was 10 months old in this photo, and very good natured about wearing the wreath.

My Dad and me - the puppy is Ch. Kel-Lani's Chieftain CD
No one got any turkey if you didn't wear your silly hat from the Christmas cracker!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas
and All the Best for 2011 !

Beach Buddy

There's nothing like a day at the beach...running on the sand, watching the waves rolling in - and that's exactly what Buddy did on his trip to Long Beach at Tofino with his family...

Thanks for the pic Annie!

Located on the farthest west coast of Vancouver Island, Long Beach is known for it's wonderful surfing in the summer and fall, and huge waves in the winter, as it's totally exposed to the Pacific Ocean.

Peter dropped in with Buddy for a quick visit on another trip to the Island. Buddy's grown into such a handsome boy...and still such a little darling with the same bright personality that made us love him so much as a young puppy. He's
about 14 inches now, and is starting to get his adult coat.

We loved seeing him again, and it was so great when he climbed in our laps and gave us kisses! Can't wait til they visit again :)

Cesar Millan's First Canadian Show...Victoria!

Wow...Cesar sure gives his fans a great show!  Last night the ultimate Pack Leader was finally here...

Kathy and I made the quick drive down to Victoria, and managed to get a little behind the scenes peek at some of the local dogs and their owners being selected to appear on stage!

I'm sure the dogs all felt the excitement in the air...

I won't give away any details about the show...I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who haven't seen it yet :)

But...I will let you know about the "must-have" item that all the ladies here were rushing the sales table for. The Cesar Millan Live - Canada Tour HOODIE!  I already love mine...perfect for training class!

It was such an amazing evening - we laughed, we cheered and laughed some more! It was definitely the most entertaining "seminar" I've ever been to....thanks Cesar!

Blackberry Buffet

We took the girls out with us while we checked the crop of blackberries for our annual jelly-making pick.

It's the first time Aimee has seen them "on the vine",  though she's been enjoying the odd one as a tasty treat over the summer.

Tasha on the other hand, is an old pro at the delicate task of nibbling the ripe ones off the soft ends while expertly avoiding any thorns.

When she saw Aimee trying to pull some off, she pushed in to show her the ropes...

"Here's how to do it - you put your head under  the leaves - like this - now just get the one at the very end."

Here's a close-up of her technique...

Yes, that's one in her teeth and blackberry juice splashed on her face.

They had a not-so-ladylike little feast, and spent the rest of the afternoon on a bit of a sugar high!

The win was extra special with friends there to cheer them on...way to go girls! You've done a wonderful job training and handling her, Kat.

Catchin' up with Shiraz

Shiraz is such a handsome boy! He'll be 6 months old tomorrow, and Mommy Linda shares that he likes bunny rabbits, low-flying birds and walks in the park.

With big sister Amber

Supervising construction of a new tool shed and
hanging out in the backyard...

Thanks for the pics Linda!
